What is Montara?
Montara is a sippable, non-alcoholic sparkling verjus drink, made from early-harvest organic California Chardonnay grapes, gently pressed into verjus. Delicate sun-ripened fruit meets crisp bubbles, lifting the acid and landing a dry, refreshing finish. No booze, no sugar—just clean, natural refreshment. What does the name “Montara” mean?
Montara (mon-tar-uh) is inspired by the coastal town of Montara, California — a place where the mountains meet the sea, and life slows down. It captures the spirit of calm, natural beauty, and a sense of adventure — just like our drinks.
Is there any alcohol in Montara?
Nope! Montara is 100% non-alcoholic. Our drinks are never fermented, so it's completely alcohol free.
Does Montara need to be refrigerated?
Montara is shelf-stable and best enjoyed chilled. Toss it in the fridge, pack a cooler, or cool it in the river during a picnic.
Does Montara contain sulfites?
When we make verjus (the tart grape juice that goes into Montara) we add just a touch of sulfite to keep it fresh. For context, Montara has about 1/10th the sulfites you'd find in a glass of wine.
Is Montara safe for kids or people who are pregnant?
Yes, Montara is safe for everyone to enjoy! It contains no alcohol, no caffeine, and no added sugar — just two simple ingredients: verjus and water.
Is Montara vegan and gluten-free?
You must live in California :) Yes, Montara is 100% vegan and gluten-free.
How should I serve Montara?
Enjoy chilled straight from the can or poured into a wine glass. Montara shines solo, pairs effortlessly with food, and makes a thoughtful addition to any celebration.
How is Montara different from other non-alcoholic wine alternatives?
Montara is made with verjus — the juice of early-harvest Chardonnay grapes, delivering the tart "bite." It’s never fermented and doesn’t go through the extra processing of other dealcoholized wine beverages.
